Neo-Oriental Perfume for Women

Inspired by Zelda Fitzgerald, America’s first flapper and the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, ZELDA’s bright beginning, full heart, and dark base evoke the story of Zelda’s bright life and tragic descent into a final heart of darkness. Jazzy and contemporary, ZELDA’s Art Deco signature exalts the precious naturals, resins, and tinctures found in famous vintage perfumes of the ‘20’s.

HEART NOTES: Creamy Magnolia Blossom and Garden Florals

BASE NOTES: Smoky Amber, Vintage Musks, Vanilla, Balsams, Sandalwood and Vetiver, Cedarwood, and Mousse de Chêne

What People Are Saying...

2013 TOP ARTISAN FRAGRANCE

In Kate Bush’s 1989 album, The Sensual World, the title track takes inspiration from James Joyce’s Ulysses, and charts Molly Bloom’s adventure as she steps aware from the book’s monochrome pages to the real, sensual world. Kate coos and whispers the word ‘yes’ throughout the song, creating a dreamy and warm sense of joy. The joy of nature and the sensuality of this song make me think of En Voyage Perfumes’ magnificent Zelda (Shelley Waddington; 2013) - a big white, and creamy magnolia fragrance that feels incredibly natural but also larger than life. It is fragrant joy in a bottle. – Candy Perfume Boy Magazine

SOTD, En Voyage Zelda EDP, what hasn't been said about this gorgeous fragrance already, it is classified as an oriental, it's an earthy, spicy, woody fragrance, I get some amber, vanilla, bergamot and woods, I don't detect any of the floral notes, It's smoky and dark, it has this really classic, vintage feeling to it, but very modern at the same time, it's a very strong fragrance 2-3 sprays tops, It's perfect for fall and winter weather, this will run you $75.00 for 18ML, I get average projection and good longevity, job well done! – Joseph Sagona

SOTD: En Voyage Zelda. From a sample, but on my full bottle wish list. I want to spray it instead of dabbing! Very special scent - unlike anything else in my collection. – Victoria Palumbo, Fragrance Belles Lettres Magazine

"I had not read a THING about Zelda before wearing it. No knowledge of the notes, house, or story. And I am bewitched regardless. I just read all those things and I am simply nodding my head - for once what I am getting is a perfect 3-D of the perfumer's vision.

“This morning I'm still getting whiffs of smoky sandalwood. It's beautiful. But what's most incredible about this perfume is the way it shakes me up, disturbs me, transports me, and takes over my day. Not many fragrances are designed to do that these days. THAT'S why people say this recreates vintage perfumery, not because it smells like a vintage scent, but because it acts like one." – MakeUpAlley

“Your perfumes are simply stunning. Not only they lived up to my expectations, they are way better than I expected, especially Zelda. What a beautiful perfume! Smokey, dark, minty, mysterious...it is simply beautiful! Now i can see why I only saw good reviews about your store as they are indeed well deserved. Be sure that I will be purchasing again from you store as I intend to test all your perfumes and to buy those that i love (and I am sure it will be a majority of them)." – Happy Client

"I had not read a THING about Zelda before wearing it. No knowledge of the notes, house, or story. And I am bewitched regardless. I just read all those things and I am simply nodding my head - for once what I am getting is a perfect 3-D of the perfumer's vision (I used the word "tropical" which isn't right, but I was picking up on the garden-party-at-night - the magnolia - which was intended)."

“The morning after I'm still getting whiffs of smoky sandalwood. It's beautiful. But what's most incredible about this perfume is the way it shakes me up, disturbs me, transports me, and takes over my day. Not many fragrances are designed to do that these days.

Zelda is the most lovely perfume I have run across in a looooooong time (and believe me, I've been following my nose for years). The application is divine and then, especially in the summer heat, you get a recurring soft bloom as you wear it. Absolutely deserving of her own song, show, and many sparkling stars. – Roberta Meyer, Perfumista

I am so rocking this floral… Magnolia is the new white. – The Fragrant Man Blog, Jordan Thompson

“Zelda, for all its backstory and inspiration, for all the deft historical understanding of zeitgeist Shelley Waddington caught so effortlessly in this liquid filigree, is quite simply one of the superlative best and most original perfumes I’ve encountered this year.

“It is as subversive, as rebellious, as breathtaking and as heart-rending as its inspiration, burning just as bright as Zelda Fitzgerald surely did in her time. Other reviews have pointed at its ‘vintage’ feel. The only vintage feel I get is that pang of epiphany when I reflect and think:

They really don’t make them like this any more.

Except, as Shelley Waddington has demonstrated so perfectly, when they do.” – Sheila Eggenberger, Perfume Writer

“ZELDA is a phenomenon. A true modern vintage with all the luxury complexity and depth of the twenties (pre-1929 of course) along with new ingredients unavailable then-I have read many reviews of this but until you ACTUALLY SMELL IT...you really can't osmagine how groovy and superb this really IS!! *double sighs*” – John Reasinger, Senior Editor CaFleureBon Magazine

“I thought I was smelling a classic vintage perfume, the kind they really don't make anymore.

I can state with confidence that this is an instant classic that can take its place among the best of today's niche and artisan offerings. This is the kind of scent that used to be made by the major houses as a matter of course - a complex, disturbing and fascinating beauty that is clearly intended for adults to wear.” - Perfume Smellin’ Things

“LOVE ZELDA!! Wow… what a game-changer.” – Stevie Wilson, Lifestyle blogger, Fashionista

“There hasn’t been a perfume on the market, until ZELDA, that came close to what my favorite magnolias smell like. Zelda is a great perfume.” – Another Perfume Blog

“Extraordinary quality at this price point. ZELDA is full-bodied, complex, and vivid, with good projection and excellent longevity.” – Make Perfume Not War Perfume Blog

"Holy crap. What an awesome opening! An Oriental to die for... stays sweet, smoky, woody, lactonic, waxy and classical throughout – perfect." - Smelly Thoughts Perfume Review

" WOW! You really did it this time, I love it! I am a huge fan of galbanum when it's done right, and you obviously know how to handle it, and oh, those musks! It reminds me a bit of what Emeraude must have been like way back in its glory days. This is an instant classic!" – DH

"ZELDA is Good. Really really Good. Congrats Shelley. I do believe you have another hit on your hands, this is magnificent!" – Carlos Powell

"I was instantly surrounded by a cloud of rich, honeyed blossoms. The big waxy blooms of magnolia represent Zelda's wild Southern Belle roots and the woman F. Scott Fitzgerald fell for. Throughout the life of the perfume is that full, plush scent to make us think of a lively, brilliant woman." – CaFleureBon Magazine

I am in LOVE with Zelda. Shelley, you have out done yourself. This fragrance is a STUNNER in every way, from opening to dry down to longevity. This one is a must-have for all! – Claudia Kroyer

“I received some other En Voyage Perfume fragrance samples along with my new purchase. If they are as good as Zelda is, I’ll be placing some more orders!” – Scented Hound

Thanks to the wonderful Shelley Waddington I am wearing EnVoyage Perfumes Zelda. Notes include Italian bergamot, Iranian galbanum, bourbon, magnolia, amber, vintage musks, vanilla, balsam, sandalwood and vetiver. This is a wonderfully complex oriental, feels retro yet avant garde, too. – Terry DeMeo

“Love ZELDA. It’s gorgeous. It’s exactly what I wanted it to be.” - Michelyn Camen

"ZELDA is a rich modern "neo-Oriental" with a sweet vanillic head, kissed with an elusive, dusty galbanum, and a firm, almost barbershop-butch base of rich vintage musks, conferring an unmistakeable 'petrichor' aura, wedded to a dark, rather serious, tweedy vetiver. With berry hints, a subtle mellow magnolia blossom, and boozy bourbon singing an alto over the bass and tenor of ZELDA's santal/balsams/musk/vetiver, we at once get a picture of a Southern belle who became integral to the 1920's Paris scene, Zelda Fitzgerald.

“Shelley Waddington of En Voyage Perfumes releases a new kind of Oriental, as rich with contradictions as Zelda herself. Impossible to pin down, ZELDA is an elusive mixture of the sweet and the sombre, the boozy and the floral, the buttery and the tweedy, the fresh and the musky, the bright and the dark. Highly recommended for men and women who are equally complex." – David Lincoln Brooks

“Dear perfume gods! This is breathtaking!” – Jen Sunderland

“SOTD: Zelda by Shelley Waddington. Yep - it's all balm for the soul.” - Amy Maloney “Shelley, my Zelda arrived today, absolutely adore it.” - Sandi Lundberg “Love the creamy dry down!” - Steven Lindquist “ABSOLUTELY love Go Ask Alice and A Study in Water. ENYTHING Shelley does is AMAZING. – Tami Holubar

“I have now fallen in love with the En Voyage Perfumes samples I received today. As I sit here with Zelda on one arm and L' Ombre on the other, I ask myself where has En Voyage been all my life? It's like meeting the perfect stranger and come to find out they have a thing for you too lol.” – Chrisopher White

“I ADORE Vents Ardents and Nectars des Iles. I have a soft spot for the lovely Lorelei. It is an ethereally pretty, cool floral that I love to wear. Bothe the Tagetes perfumes are outstanding, and so are Carmel Boheme and Chang Chang. As for ZELDA, I can’t say enough good things about it, it is a masterpiece!” – Donna Hathaway

“Zelda is a magnolia fragrance that zooms in on the lemony vanilla aspects of the flower, with a dusting of spices and what smells to me like a distinct note of pineapple and a hint of rose. It’s both sunny and dusky, and I’m impressed that perfumer Shelley Waddington was able to create something that feels sensual and equally appropriate for day and evening.” – Natalie

“Zelda has a hefty Jazz Age booziness which I adore, it’s spicy as all get-out on me [I’m thrilled], and creamy, smoky as a boîte that Hemingway and other ex-pats might have frequented. It most certainly could have accompanied a viewing of Kiki de Montparnasse! One of the most seductive perfumes I’ve smelled in a long time, I could see myself emptying bottle after bottle of it, no problem.” – Fragrantica Magazine, Ida Meister
